The Big Hammock Installation
Grand Opening Party
Friday August 20, 1:30 pm
Rose Kennedy Greenway at Oliver Street, Boston MA
There is a new art installation on the Rose Kennedy Greenway! The Big Hammock is the brainchild of architect, artist, and member of the BAC Board of Trustees Hansy Better Barraza. The Big Hammock is an 8’ x 38’ hand-woven hammock that is being created and installed in the Greenway’s Fort Point Channel Parks. Once completed, the hammock will be able to seat fifteen people at once.
This installation is intended to create a new way to interact with and admire the Greenway, as a space of public leisure. Park-goers are encouraged to sit, lounge, and nap on this truly inspired piece of art. This installation will be up for approximately three weeks.
The Big Hammock project is funded through Kickstarter.com and the Awesome Foundation. Become a fan of The Big Hammock Project on Facebook!
